Renting VS Buying In Birmingham

No matter what type of dwelling you live in, Birmingham is a great city and this fact is obvious if you have ever been to the area. There are tons of things to do, places to see and a great deal of rich history to discover. If you are planning on selling your Waterloo Ontario homes to make the move to Birmingham, there are a few things you will need to consider first.

If you and your family are moving to this fabulous city for the first time, it may be a good idea to rent a condo or an apartment while you shop around for a permanent home to purchase. This will take the pressure off your house hunting and give you ample time to find the perfect home in the right location. While you are renting you can check out the city's different schools and districts and get a good idea of what the different neighborhoods have to offer. Once you have found the right house (at the right price) you can give notice at your Charlie condos and start packing those boxes!

If you are not able to purchase your own home (due to lack of financing, or because you choose to remain more mobile), you may not have to look for the right home to buy, but there will be a bit of research involved in finding the right property to rent. From apartments to condos, townhouses to farmhouses, there are many different types of abode available in Birmingham, and you do not have to be an Ajax real estate agent to find them! A good place to start is in the local classified ads. These listings provide up to date properties for rent, and contact information for the landlords or building owners. Yet you should not trust everything that you read, and it is important to make appointments to view the various properties that spark your interest.

While viewing the houses and apartments for rent, whether it is the new block of condos downtown or Clarkson real estate, keep track of what you see and what you liked (or did not like) about each of the properties. A good way to keep everything organized is to have a checklist that you bring with you. This list should include things like how much rent and utilities are for each place, if there is a lease involved and how long is that lease, the special features of the home (porches, balconies, gardens, fireplaces, how many bedrooms and bathrooms) anything that stands out to you as a great feature. Keep track of the not so great features as well (is the home on a busy street with lots of traffic, or far away from amenities such as grocery stores and pharmacies, for example). This list that you compile will come in very handy when it is time to make your final decision about where you are going to rent.

The same type of search ethic applies to finding the perfect home to buy. Think about the needs of yourself and your family now, and try to imagine what those needs will be in a few years. You might need an extra bedroom for that little bundle of joy you have always wanted, or one less bedroom if little Johnny is almost old enough to move away to college. These points are true whether you are considering Birmingham homes or Leslieville real estate, and taking a bit of extra time to organize your search for a home will pay off huge dividends in the long run.
